In late August, sunflowers are blooming all over Colorado and are especially vibrant along the roads in the San Luis Valley.

Capturing a moment, a mood, a thought is what motivates Joan Wolbier to create art. She works with a variety of media, always wanting to satisfy her curiosity and to challenge herself as a visual artist. During her career, Joan has studied figure drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and book arts. Her favorite medium is watercolor and she loves to paint landscapes, plants, and wildlife. She recently published a book of her paintings titled "Painting Colorado: A Watercolor Journal."
