Paint Mines Interpretive Park in eastern Colorado has special meaning for me as an artist. The colorful clay was used by Native Americans to make paint. The yellow and red ochres are familiar colors that we painters use today.
Capturing a moment, a mood, a thought is what motivates Joan Wolbier to create art. She works with a variety of media, always wanting to satisfy her curiosity and to challenge herself as a visual artist. During her career, Joan has studied figure drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and book arts. Her favorite medium is watercolor and she loves to paint landscapes, plants, and wildlife. She recently published a book of her paintings titled "Painting Colorado: A Watercolor Journal." Both hardback and paperback copies of the book are available for purchase from Joan or through Blurb (blurb.com). To purchase original paintings, contact Joan through her email.

The remarkable shapes and shades of golds and rusts are indicative of the place, which you show so magically in this painting.
